FAQs

Is there a registration fee?

No; the workshop is free.

The registration form isn’t working for me. What should I do?

If you are unable to register using the form linked to on the “REGISTER” tab, please email edr3workshop@amnh.org.

I want to give a presentation — how do I submit an abstract?

Whether or not you wish to be considered for a presentation slot, all registration is done through this form — on it you will find a section for submitting an abstract.

I don’t want to give a presentation, but I do want to participate in the workshop — how do I register?

Whether or not you wish to be considered for a presentation slot, all registration is done through this form.

Do I need to join for all of the workshop?

Participants are encouraged to join for the parts of the conference that are during their work hours. The online format does, however, provide the opportunity to join in at a reduced time commitment. Please keep in mind that you and your collaborators will get the more out of workshop projects the more time you are able to devote to the dedicated collaborative working sessions during the workshop (see the schedule).

What if I don’t have a project in mind to work on?

Once Slack connection information is distributed on 15 May, participants will be able to announce projects they are interested in working on during the workshop — if you don’t immediately have an idea, you may find inspiration from others on Slack. If you draw a blank come the time of the workshop, there will be plenty of projects to join.

The project I would like to work on requires proprietary data. May I work with those data during the workshop?

In line with the code of ethics for the workshop (see the ethics tab), proprietary data should not be used for a project during the workshop. Please consider a different project that will allow for any participant to get involved.

I haven’t been assigned a presentation slot, but am still interested in leading a discussion on something. What should I do?

Because the workshop is focused on collaborative working, there are limited spots for presentations. If you were not assigned a presentation slot, during the workshop you may propose on Slack a breakout session to lead a discussion on a topic of your choice in one of the dedicated breakout sessions (see the schedule).

Are there posters at the workshop?

Due to time constraints of scheduling both collaborative working and presentation slots, poster sessions will unfortunately not be offered. Please consider leading a breakout on a topic of your choice (see above).

I have witnessed or experienced behavior during the workshop that is against the code of ethics. Whom do I contact?

If there has been a breach of the code of ethics, please notify the SOC at edr3workshop@amnh.org with the subject line “Code of ethics”. We will not tolerate inappropriate behavior. Reports will be taken seriously and addressed as soon as possible.

Whom should I contact if I have further comments/concerns?

Please email the SOC at edr3workshop@amnh.org for comments/concerns not addressed here.
